Sunday School Discipleship:  These groups meet every Sunday morning (except throughout the months of July-August) and involve relevant Bible exploration for all age groups (adults, youth, elementary and toddler children).  Serving God's kingdom through the discipleship ministries is one of the possibilities for investing your life in leading others into a deeper understanding of God's Word and growing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men.

 

Small Groups/Bible Studies:  There are a number of regular groups that are led by dedicated volunteers that meet for Bible study, fellowship, accountability and for prayer.

​

JourneyMen - A men's connection group to strengthen men spiritually and serve others.

​

Ladies Bible Study - A Bible study group to connect ladies to God and to each other through fellowship and relevant study of God's Word.

​

L.I.F.T. (Ladies In Fellowship Together) - This group meets monthly for breakfast, devotions and prayer (usually at a local restaurant and on the second or third Saturday of each month).

​

Leadership Transformation Groups - LTG's are made up of two or three people who desire to grow in Christ as they hear from God through prayer and Scripture reading.  They also agree in prayer for the salvation of loved ones and friends.  These groups typically meet once a week (or monthly) for an hour.  They are gender specific, require no curriculum or special training, and don't need a leader.

 

Youth & Children's Ministries:  Brookside provides opportunities to teach teens and children, model life skills for them, and help care for them.  For the protection of our children, all of our youth and children's workers must be willing to go through a background check.  We highly value the safety of our teens and children.

 

Souled Out - This is Brookside's opportunity to teach, interact with, be a positive example, and have fun with teens.  The goal is for this ministry to get together at least once throughout the week.  This ministry is currently without a full-time volunteer.

​

Kid's Church - This is our primary avenue of discipleship for children on Sunday morning.  We have two main groups for Kid's Church (ages 3-K and grades 1-6).  In both these groups we focus on teaching from the Bible and applying biblical truth in an age-appropriate way for each child.  We have emphasis on worship in each age group providing opportunities for age-appropriate and family oriented worship.

​

Vacation Bible School (VBS) - This is an annual ministry that occurs during the summer and is carried out in various formats.  Volunteers are always needed and appreciated.

​

Church Nursery - The nursery is available each Sunday during the morning worship service for infants - 2 years.

​

Prayer:  The most important thing we can do is to pray.  Prayer is by far the easiest thing to assume in the church and the hardest thing to maintain.  More than anything, we long to be a part of a place where all the people know that God is working and we will want to seek God's powerful work in His church both increasingly and unceasingly.

​

Prayer Room - A designated Prayer Room space at the church is located near the Activity Center and is available 24-hours a day/7-days a week.

​

Prayer Events - An annual individual prayer journey is planned during the year (usually during the Lenten season).

​

Prayer Requests - A place for submitting prayer requests is provided on the connection card in the weekly bulletin.  Also, prayer requests may be submitted to the church office and a connections email may be sent to church attenders to be praying for special needs.

​

Prayer Team - A Prayer Team works together to encourage prayer among members of the congregation and also to pray both individually and corporately.  Any who are willing to either help with the planning of special prayer events and/or pray for special needs by serving on the Prayer Team should contact the church office.

​

Prayer Gatherings - Every week a small group of intercessors from community churches gather to pray for a transformational move of God to take place in Wellsville and the surrounding region of the Southern Tier of Western New York.  The meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and the locations vary from week to week.  A similar but larger group meets every other Sunday night beginning at 6:00 p.m. for a Journey to Transformation unified worship and prayer service at a host church in the immediate area.

"Pray continually" (1 Thessalonians 5:17, NIV).

"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done" (Philippians 4:6, NLT).

​

"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16, NIV).

​

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work

within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  Amen"

(Ephesians 3:19-20, NIV).

​

Worship Team:  This is a group of gifted and dedicated leaders who assist with the Sunday morning worship (and sometimes on other occasions).  The church is always looking for qualified individuals to serve in this area of ministry.

​

Young at Heart:  This is Brookside's ministry to seniors which currently meets at the church for a luncheon and special program about twice a year.  Contact the church office for more information on this ministry.

​

Sports Ministry:  Brookside seeks to provide opportunities for fellowship through sports.  Currently we either have or are working on providing various activities for connecting through sports.

​

Volleyball - The church provides the opportunity to play volleyball (of the fellowship variety) on the third Monday night of each month (beginning at 7:00 p.m.) in the church's Activity Center.

​

Shuffleboard - The church provides the opportunity to play shuffleboard on the first and third Monday night of each month (beginning at 5:30 p.m.) in the church's Activity Center.

​

Basketball - We are currently working on a plan to install basketball backboards and goals to accommodate those who are interested in playing either one-on-one or team basketball.

 

Hospitality:  This involves coordinating, decorating, hosting, setting up or cleaning up from church meals and receptions.  It involves the gifts of hospitality, helping and serving.

​

Sunday Morning Reception - This is something that occurs every Sunday after the service and is intended as a time of greeting, fellowship and conversation.

​

Funeral Luncheons - The church will often host a luncheon for the families of those who are experiencing the loss of a close family member.

​

Church Events - There are a number of church events that often involve the gifts and graces of the hospitality team.  These include such events as wedding and baby showers, receptions, the Harvest Supper, the Christmas Dessert Theatre and other special events.
